If you are a law firm, do you need copy written for a Shopping Cart web page? Probably not. Likewise, if you are operating a website that manufactures guitars and you have a network of retailers, do you need to write copy that discusses pricing of certain models? Not really. Let the retailers do that. If you are running a Japanese restaurant, do you need to use SEO articles, blog copy, and press release copy? Probably not. I mean, you could do a blog I guess, but how would that affect your brand? Is it necessary? Not really… [click to continue…]

Landing Page Copy writing 101

by Jon Wuebben

Landing pages are what your prospects “land” on when they click on your PPC ad, banner ad or email link. With these very important pages, you have a couple of choices. You can use this page as the first and last page they interact with (i.e. Get them to take action right on that specific landing page) or as a “hub” for the other places on your site you want the prospect to go to.

…What exactly are you trying to get the prospect to do? [click to continue…]

Optimized Press releases have incredible value and can be a great way to get some instant exposure. Do you have a newsworthy event to talk about such as a new business announcement, a partnership, a new suite of products, a new service offering or winning an award? These are all great things to communicate.

How do you go about writing optimized press releases?

Copywriting for a search engine optimized press release is different than any other type of online copy. The first thing of course is the headline. As you would think, this is very important. It’s what pulls your reader in. It should have a little flash to it, maybe an eye-grabbing statistic or benefit. It should be… [click to continue…]

So after you have your article written, what happens next? How do you get it out there, using article distribution to make sure it’s on all the best sites in your industry? How do you get it on those article sites so people can go in there and use your article in their ezine, on their site or in their blog? Well, it used to be that you would have to manually submit them to every single site you wanted it to appear on. This was a very tedious process.

The new and improved way to do it is through services like Article Marketer.com, for the low fee of $239, you can have an all-access pass to distribute articles through their site for a year! [click to continue…]

Writing and distributing articles on the web is a good way to get your name out there and gain some linking benefit as well. Not familiar with article submission, marketing, and distribution? Read on…

When your articles are out there, every day, many people all over the world may read them, see your URL and and potentially… contact you. How would you like some of the same free advertising benefit? Your articles could be picked up by thousands of sites, almost overnight. If they are well written, popular and give some great advice, they could get to that number very quickly.

Just like on your site, you’ll also want to use your keyword phrases in your articles. How many should you use and how many times each? [click to continue…]

SEO Copy writing Overview

Going out to local business groups and speaking about SEO copy writing is always a good time; I enjoy having the chance to educate business people and help them improve their online marketing efforts. I also learn a lot from them, so it works both ways! From keyword research to writing strong call-to-action copy, I do my best to tailor my talks to the audience. If we have time, we’ll jump online and do some on-site website reviews. Here are some brief highlights from a local talk I did in Carlsbad, CA.

Many people are confused when they have to use 4-5 keyword phrases on the same page. They wonder how they can fit them all in without the copy sounding strange. Well actually, there is a very easy way to do it, but it takes a little creativity. Look for similarities between the phrases, see how they can work together. Take a look at this example, where we make four separate keyword phrases all work in the same sentence.

Our keywords:

  • Paint supplies
  • Artist brushes
  • Oil based paint
  • Art supplies

And our sentence:

Buy oil based paint and artist brushes at Art Supplies.com.

You can do this in your site copy as well!

Note: you don’t have to repeat the same word in the sentence if it appears in two unique keyword phrases.

Analyzing Your Competitor’s Keyword Phrases

If you want to increase your sales and improve your business, you’ve got to know what your competitors are doing, right? As you are making changes to your offering, so are they. Things are always moving, positions are always being jockeyed for; new markets are always in play. At the same time, they may make some mistakes, as you could too. The nice thing about the web is that it lends itself very well to checking your competitor’s keyword phrases! [click to continue…]
